Traditional craft meets modern design in this beautiful Sweetgrass Baskets, lovingly handmade by my sisters and I. This is a traditional African basket. These gorgeous and durable tray baskets come in a rich variety of earthy tones and colors. This Baskets are eco-friendly too - made from fragrant sweetgrass. Youll find many uses for these dramatic yet practical tray baskets in your home decor. Use as the base for your table centerpiece, or under large serving dishes to add color and flair to the table setting. Or celebrate our amazing craftsmanship by hanging them as lovely wall decorations!

Sizes can vary as each basket is unique and hand woven.

Coiled baskets are crafted from one continuous strand of sweetgrass and bundles of bulrush sewn together in a spiral. Palmetto leaves are tightly wound around the coils of sweetgrass which is difficult and often cut the workers hands. Each basket tray has the unique touch of the artisan who made it. There are no two alike. Grains remise of raw rice were placed in a fanner and tossed into the air. After the wind blew away the chaff, the rice was ready for cooking. Fanners were also used to carry food and even to cradle babies while their mothers worked in the fields during plantation days.
